P.O.R.C.C. Newsletter

Dear PORCC Club Members:
It has been several months since you have had a show or received a newsletter. We apologize for that. However, please know that during this “time off”, we have been talking to PORCC members and meeting with the PORCC Board to discuss the next steps for the PORCC Club.
First, let us share a piece of good news! We are having a show on September 28, 2008 at the Holiday Inn, our usual place and the group is Jimmy Merchant and the Teenagers. September is our anniversary month, so we knew we wanted to have a show for sure. Second, we are planning to have a membership meeting at 6:30 PM (before the 7 PM show start time) and we are asking you to be there.
After much discussion both outside and within the membership, we know that it is difficult to continue to have shows at the same level it has been. As in the past newsletter, several examples were provided, especially the reduction in the number of shows per years, making a decision to continue or stop the club, etc. These are the areas of discussion for the meeting prior to the show.
For the record, and your prior knowledge for the meeting, each show costs approximately $5,000-$6,000 Based on the cost and keeping in mind a member pays $160/year, a membership base of at least 300 members would be needed to support the continuation of 8 shows per year. Our members’ base is probably 130-150. There are non-members that attend shows, but not a significant amount.
If the number of shows were reduced to 4, and the annual fee is $160 you would need a base membership of no less than 150.
So, you can see, there is a lot to think about and consider when deciding what is the best plan of action.
Please attend this show and the meeting!!!!!!!!! This is your club and you need to make the decisions. Understanding that not all can attend the show, if you want your opinion to be heard, either send me, or Bob, a note or call us. We’ll bring it to the meeting
Hope to see you there
Sincerely,
P.O.R.C.C. Board
